Week 9 – Letting In, Letting Go
Aim of the week – Let in Curiosity, Fun, Playfulness, Self Compassion
Let go of perfection, criticism, comparison
As a busy working mum we often think we have to get everything in control, I will be ok when it is ALL organized, I can find time for me when everyone else is ok…
This is where we go wrong.
As soon as we finish one thing, something else comes up… we are NEVER finished! So where is the time for yourself? Non-existent.
Imagine a juggler… even though she is juggling 5 balls at a time she has to breathe deeply, remain calm otherwise all the balls will drop on the floor. Someone can throw her a new ball or she can get rid of one, but all the time she will keep juggling. But she is not stressed, she is in a good rhythm, she can walk and jump and turn around but those balls will still keep moving.
We will always have things to do. That’s it – full-stop.
We can stress about those things and add an extra level of difficulty to everything or we can simply and gently accept that – we will always have things to do.
Smile, life is not here to hurt and annoy us.
Around us is so much fun and beauty and life and love.
We do not need to be perfect… we never will be… relax
Top tip: Our over reliance on the digital world can often induce even stronger feelings of overwhelm – there is just so much to be read and seen and watched… this mum is doing that with her kids… Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO)…
Those mum’s only post the ‘best bits’ on social media – everyone has tough and tired days… give yourself a break… you are absolutely THE BEST MUM your children know…
But give everyone a treat and for just one day this weekend, turn off your phone, don’t switch on a computer or TV or tablet… In fact turn off the wifi in your house…
Disconnect in order to re-connect with yourself and to enjoy some simple pleasures with your kids or your friends…
Recipe(s) of the week
Invent something!
Take a few (5-6) ingredients that you really like and play the ‘super-chef ‘ game… Your challenge is to create a meal with those ingredients.
Make it playful and creative and fun and involve the little ones too maybe!
