There is a wonderful thing happening all around us at the moment... every year many of our wise old trees (and sprightly young ones) choose to let go...
Nature has so much wisdom to share with us... it has its own flow, its own rhythm, the darkness and light, the seasons for letting go the seasons for renewal...
What can we learn from the gifts of autumn?
Is there a belief or an event in your past that you are holding onto that no longer serves you?
Are you bearing a hidden grudge or a grief that needs to be recognised in order to be able to move on?
Is there someone who you have not fully forgiven?
Carrying our wounds from the past around with us can be a stressor on our bodies and we may hold onto our wounds in many different ways... it can be in excess weight, it can be pain, it can be in terms of how we view and talk to ourselves.
With kindness and compassion, take a moment for yourself and simply ask if there is anything that you would like to let go of. Acknowledgement of what is there for you is an important step in letting go and moving on. This only happens when you are ready to - we cannot make a tree lose its leaves too soon. But when you feel it is right... give yourself time to let it go.
Maybe try to write it down - this can be a really useful tool.
How does this help you to be more present with who and where you are now? Where we are right now is a result of all the life experience and all the people that have been part of our lives up to now. We cannot change that which has happened - we have probably learnt all we need to know from those experiences if we are present and honest with ourselves...
The here and the now is all there is.... if holding on to the past is serving you here and now... great.... if not then see if you can let it go...
Happy autumn!
